Alex: Thanks for having me, Spiffy! One Young World empowers and develops young leaders to build a fair, sustainable future for all. It begins with the annual One Young World Summit—a landmark event of the year for young leaders. It is a chance for the individuals responsible for shaping the future of our world to come together to confront the biggest challenges facing humanity. The Summit is the ultimate place to be inspired, share learnings, and connect. But the Summit is not only a life-changing four-day experience, it also is just the start of every attendee’s journey with us. Every leader who attends leaves the Summit as a One Young World Ambassador and a valued member of our global community.
PJ: Thanks for having me, Spiffy! In order to solve some of the world's biggest challenges (think: SDGs), we need to collaborate across all sectors. TRANSFORM is a unique accelerator which unites corporates, donors, investors, and academics to support visionary social enterprises across Africa, Asia, and beyond. Together, we test and scale new solutions that tackle environmental challenges, improve health and wellbeing, and build inclusive economies. Combining grant funding, business insight, and research, TRANSFORM is accelerating the development of innovative business models to help solve global challenges. It was established in 2015 and is led by Unilever, the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, and EY.
Dr. Abigail: Thanks for having me, Spiffy! Marie Curie once said, "You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals. To that end, each of us must work for his own improvement and, at the same time, share a general responsibility for all humanity, our particular duty being to aid those to whom we think we can be most useful." In light of pressing global issues such as the ongoing pandemic and climate change, it is crucial that leaders exhibit empathy and humility while promoting inclusive collaboration across borders and institutions. As we approach the last seven years to achieve the SDGs, it is essential to reevaluate our methods and find ways to empower and unite the youth toward achieving sustainable goals.
