Tomer:It’s great to be here, Spiffy. You know, climate change is the biggest, most complex challenge of our era. In fact, it’s a complexity that has paralyzed and prevented progress for too long. I foundedClimateViewbased on agile methodologies because climate change is a challenge that desperately requires a new approach.
Dysmus:Did you know that food loss amounts to roughly $310 billion in developing countries? Estimates from the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Bank suggests that up to 47 percent of the $940 billion needed to eradicate hunger in sub-Saharan Africa by 2050 will be required for the post-harvest system. Fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and tubers have the highest loss rate of any food in developing countries, with 45-50% occurring during post-harvest and processing. This can all be traced back to constraints in harvesting techniques, as well as a lack of storage and cooling facilities.
Patricia:Thanks so much for having me, Spiffy. The goal of"college thrifts"is to create more inclusive and sustainable institutions of higher education by supporting economic development and creating mentorship opportunities amongst college students. Overall, we want to raise awareness about the environmental impact of wasteful practices at the college level, and also provide a platform for students to feel part of their college communities. We believe it is our responsibility to spark sustainable consumption behavior and do our share to make the world a better place.
