Carlie Wiener: Exploring the Ocean for Solutions to Global Issues
Carlie: Thanks for having me, Spiffy. Schmidt Ocean Institute is boldly exploring our unknown ocean with our research vessel Falkor (too) and underwater robot ROV SuBastian. We provide ship time for scientists around the globe to conduct cutting-edge science with the goal of generating new information and interest in our ocean and the creatures that live in it. We openly share all of our discoveries to inform the wise stewardship of our planet.

Neelay Bhatt: Helping Agencies Embrace the Future

Neelay Bhatt: Helping Agencies Embrace the Future

Neelay: Thanks for having me, Spiffy! Next Practice Partners is on a mission to help organizations (municipal governments, parks and recreation agencies, non-profits, etc.) move away from status quo and embrace innovation but in an inclusive manner. In other words, shed the best practices of the past and embrace the next practices of the future. We do it in two ways: 1) Externally, we help plan the future of cities for parks, recreation, arts, and sports through master and strategic planning; and 2) Internally, we help organizations create a culture of innovation, inclusion, and magical guest service. Our team's experience includes Disney, Olympics, Super Bowl, and Target; and it spans every continent besides Antarctica.

Laura: Thanks for having me, Spiffy! Recess time offers children opportunities to build and practice communication skills, cooperation, sharing, problem solving, perseverance, self-control, and conflict resolution. For example, children are excluded, play is too unsafe, and conflicts escalate. These challenges on the playground can then negatively impact students' experience and performance in the classroom.
