Asher Segun-Olasanmi: Bridging the Gender Gap in Tech

Asher Segun-Olasanmi: Bridging the Gender Gap in Tech
Asher: Thanks for having me, Spiffy! Through Young Females in Tech and Creatives (YFTC), I work to make sure that young girls who were told they do not belong in tech are re-oriented and equipped to do all they want to do and be all they want to be! The challenge of female tech illiteracy in Nigeria (and beyond) has been fueled by fear, lack of opportunity, and social biases. YFTC tackles this step-by-step by organizing workshops and providing scholarships for females to study tech-related courses.

Rahul Srinivasan: Electrifying Health Facilities Across the Developing World
Rahul: Thanks for having me, Spiffy! As a part of an international organization with close links to the United Nations, we work with governments and various development partners to provide solutions and resources to support reliable, sustainable, and climate-friendly electrification of health facilities across the developing world. Electricity is critical to power many life-saving medical devices and equipment as well as to store medicines and vaccines. Since many developing countries, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, face an acute deficit of energy in their health facilities, addressing this pressing challenge can help save lives, improve maternal care and infant delivery, and enhance the overall quality of lives in these countries.

Benjamin Mardell: Shaping Future Leaders through Playful Learning

Benjamin Mardell: Shaping Future Leaders through Playful Learning
Benjamin: Thanks for having me, Spiffy! The young people who are in school today are growing up in a world that will be very different in ten or 15 years. This is because of the climate crisis that is fueling mass migration, the need to adapt our sources of food, how we move around, how we live near the shore and more, as well as the potential disruptive and creative possibilities of AI. No one can predict what the future will hold. But we can say with certainty the people will have to be adaptive, creative, take risks, and manage uncertainty. Play helps in all these regards, and school needs to be places that help prepare young people for these challenges.
